Hello, Curious Human! I’m Tyler, and I created Curious Humans. This is my first-ever game. I made it because I’m an extroverted introvert: I love talking to people, but I can’t stand small talk.I wanted a game that helped skip the small talk and get to the good stuff with minimal effort. But everything I found was either loud, silly party games (fun for a laugh but lacking substance) or conversation starters that asked things like, “Which three poets, dead or alive, would you have dinner with?” Sure, they skip small talk, but they also leave people scrambling for answers and saying things like, “I don’t know… the guy with the hair?”
For years, I searched for something in between. A game that could be adapted for kids or families. Easy to learn and play with no need to recall random strange information. A game where you could answer as much or as little as you wanted, without feeling pressured.
Eventually, I decided to make it myself. It began with pieces of coloured cardboard and a Google doc full of statements I wrote while walking home from work. A simple true-or-false game that sparked real conversation. I brought it to a friend’s housewarming, where I barely knew anyone, and it was a hit. I never planned to publish it; it was just something to help me talk to people.
And now, years later, here we are: a self-published game, four standalone expansions, and a journey that has taken me around Australia, playing with thousands of people at conventions and having an absolute blast. This game has taught me so much and helped me grow in ways I never expected.
