In the vast and hostile colds of space are great opportunities, but also great dangers. Some of those dangers we brought with us, but some have been sleeping there for millions of years.
The year is 4400 AD, 1400 years after a savage inter-dimensional war, and 1800 years after humanity had first reached for the stars.
Amid the hulks of space, and the wreckage of Ozymandian empires, brave new adventurers, pirates, and prospectors find their fortunes.
Welcome to Striker, a no-holds-barred role-playing game set in the far future, in a world that’s so strange and so far removed from us that it is at once, post-apocalyptic, cyberpunk and space opera.
Any Character You Want
Pick any character from your favourite sci-fi movies and there’s an excellent chance that you can recreate them in Striker. You can mix and match backgrounds, professions and vocations, because they really are just recipes for adding skills and ranks. You can also add genetic modifications, cybernetic enhancements, and a whole host of sci fi gear to head out into the black with.
The Core Rulebook is completely self-contained, guides you through character generation, shows you how it all works. The system is extremely flexible, allowing you to craft just about any sci fi character you want.
You can also make a range of characters you have not even considered yet. This is because the technology in Striker is not just a back-drop, it is accounted for in the mechanics, and provides your engineer, hacker or chopper with techniques that are literally out of this world.
Strikermechanica
Combines the familiar basis of roll-high d20 gaming, with a deep and satisfying skill system
The Strikermechanica is a pragmatic approach to sci fi gaming. It leverages some of the familiarity of d20 systems, but ruthlessly removes all the baggage, and vastly empowers skills, so that they are now primary.
More than 300 hours of play testing deep and complex sci fi stories in various contests (physical, social, and technological), have delivered a fast and smooth system that has an equal emphasis on narrative and combative styles of play. Better yet, it also scales to contests between starships without a change in the mechanic.
Most importantly, the Strikermechanica makes a real difference to the science-fiction feel of the game. It helps to tell the story. It puts you in space.
The Strikermechanica scales, hardly needs a single lookup table, involves simple maths, easy to remember, and it tells a good sci fi story, even computer hacking makes sense.
There is an introductory one-shot adventure in the back, giving you a taste of how adventuring can happen in this unfamiliar place.
